Why Buy Your Used Car from a Dealership Instead of a Private Seller?

Friday, October 22nd, 2021

Are you in the market for a new car, truck, SUV, or other vehicle? If so, consider buying it used. There are many advantages to buying used cars: You can get a reliable vehicle for a fraction of the original sticker price, you can browse a much greater variety of makes and models, and you can avoid the significant depreciation that comes with buying new cars.

As you seek a used car, you’ll have a couple of options. You can buy from a private seller, or you can choose to work with a dealership. It’s highly advantageous to buy a used car from a dealership, and here’s why:

Reasons to Buy from a Dealership

●   You can talk with a reputable sales professional. At a dealership, you can always rest assured that there’s someone who can answer your questions or provide you with a detailed history report. That isn’t always the case when you buy privately.

●   You can go for a test drive. Test driving a car is critical. You may feel more comfortable test driving with a reputable dealer, as opposed to a private seller whom you may have just met.

●   You can assess the dealership’s reputation. With a dealership, there are always ways to check reviews and credentials, ensuring their trustworthiness. By contrast, it’s much harder to size up private sellers.

●   You may browse a wider variety of vehicles. When you shop at a dealership and don’t like the first car you test drive, there are always plenty of other options to consider.

●   You may have the option of buying a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle. Many used car dealerships have certified pre-owned (CPO) programs, featuring used vehicles with lower mileage and/or fewer years driven. CPO cars are always thoroughly inspected and must meet rigorous standards before being put on the showroom floor as well.

These are just a few of the reasons why it’s in your best interests to buy your next used vehicle from an established dealership such as Woodfield Nissan.

Nissan Warning Lights and Their Meanings

Monday, November 12th, 2018
Nissan warning lights

There is no doubt that vehicles have made it easier to get from point A to point B. But what happens when an unfamiliar light appears on your vehicle’s dashboard before you arrive at your destination? Not only is it extremely beneficial for drivers to understand what the different symbols on their vehicle’s dashboard means, but to also understand what the color of the symbol indicates. Below is a list of Nissan’s warning lights and their meanings.

Blue, White and/or green

Symbols on your vehicle’s dashboard can appear as blue, white or green depending on the year your vehicle was produced. Symbols that appear in these colors indicate that a common feature is turned on, and functions as a reminder to drivers to turn it off. Common features include turn signals, cruise control and headlights.

Yellow

Symbols that appear with a yellow light indicates that although there is a malfunction in the vehicle, it is not dangerous for drivers to operate it. For example, the appearance of a yellow ABS symbol indicates that a safety system was triggered, but drivers should operate their vehicle more carefully.

Red

Red lights indicate that something is not only wrong with your vehicle, but that it can also be dangerous for drivers to continue operating it. When red symbols appear on the dashboard, drivers should immediately pull over and check their vehicle’s manual to figure out how to fix the dangerous issue.

It is necessary for drivers to understand the meaning behind the lights and symbols that appear on their dashboard. Not only does it allow drivers to continuously maintain their vehicle’s condition, but it also gives insight into potentially dangerous operating situations for drivers.

2019 Nissan Altima Review: More Compelling Than Ever

Thursday, October 25th, 2018
2019 Nissan Altima Review

The Nissan Altima, since its inauguration into the US market in 1992, has been known as one of the most affordable midsize sedans. The model itself has seen many rounds of continuous improvement, yet it still relies on its foundational qualities. Though the 2019 model varies far from its original voyage, it still stays true to the characteristics of Altima’s past.

The 2019 Altima is the first model to offer optional all-wheel drive. Adding AWD to the base, 2.5-liter engine comes with a $1,350 premium. The 2.5-liter engine, though it’s considered “base,” has been redeveloped by Nissan, with over 80 percent of the engine’s parts being new. Because of this upgrade, both power and fuel efficiency increase. The 2.5-liter engine creates 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, combined with a fuel economy rating of 32 miles per gallon.

The Altima is also offered with a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo I4 engine that produces 248 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Nissan estimates the VC-Turbo will return 29 mpg combined. The VC-Turbo engine is offered as a $4,050 upgrade on the SR model or as an $3,000 upgrade on the top-level Platinum. Regardless of model, each Altima comes with a continuously variable transmission. The transmission does a terrific job modeling an automatic gearbox, only with simulated gear changes.

Regardless of which Altima you choose, you’ll receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is available on higher trims. Although the 2019 model doesn’t offer Wi-Fi hotspot, a popular feature amongst modern cars, it does however provide two modern USB Type-C ports, as well as two normal USB Type-A connectors.

On the outside, the 2019 Altima is longer, lower and wider than previous models. Nissan confirmed the design was heavily influenced by the company’s VMotion 2.0 concept, originally displayed at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Though it’s been reduced since the original showing, it still retains the Altima’s front fascia and LED lighting. Because the Altima has a longer wheelbase, there’s more room for passengers. In the back, the Altima offers 15.4 cubic feet of trunk space, which is plenty considering its size.

2018 Nissan Murano Review

Monday, October 22nd, 2018
2018 Nissan Murano

There’s no denying that when it comes to style, the 2018 Nissan Murano is in a class by itself.

When you combine sophisticated curves, a “floating” roofline, aerodynamic design and price value, you get intelligent mobility and refinement in motion.

The Nissan Murano has been a popular choice since inception and a viable competitor to other vehicles in its class like the Chevy Equinox, the Dodge Durango and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Stand-out features for the 2018 Nissan Murano include boomerang-shaped LED headlights and matching boomerang taillights, arched headlamp accents, active grille shutters and up to 7-inches more room over other SUV in its class.

Exterior features also include available panoramic sunroof, 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome exterior trim, power exterior mirrors, integrated LED turn signals, tinted rear windows, available exterior chrome bits and black exterior-mirror caps, illuminated door sills and motion-activated power liftgate.

Inside the Murano, drivers and passengers alike experience premium pleasantries like Cashmere leather seats, door panels and armrests, optional Jasper, Pearlescent or Brushed Silver chrome trim accents, standard dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, reclining rear bench seat, 8-inch multi-touch color center display, USB ports for front and rear passengers, front and rear Zero Gravity Seats, adjustable mood lighting and 60/40 split rear seating with power controls.

Nissan knows that most of its buyers here in America are families. And advanced safety features built into every vehicle is a reflection of that. The 2018 Murano comes equipped the brand’s Advanced Airbag System which features dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat-belt and occupant-classification sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags with rollover sensor. Also included is Nissan’s Vehicle Dynamic Control that adds appropriate brake pressure to the vehicle when needed, a traction control system, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, zone body construction and tire-pressure monitoring with easy-fill tire alert.

Woodfield Nissan knows that performance is one of the most important selling points in the automobile industry today. That’s why the Murano was equipped with a 3.5 liter V6 engine mated to an Xtronic CVT Transmission for smoother, quieter acceleration. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive smartly navigates between 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive with 4-wheel independent suspension. Power is listed at 260hp and 240 lb-ft of torque.

Entertainment features include Bose premium audio system, 11 speakers with dual sub-woofers, MP3 playback capability, Sirius Satellite Radio, illuminated steering wheel mounted audio controls, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth wireless technology.

The 2018 Nissan Murano starts at $31,770.

Nissan Receives Several Honors in 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

Friday, September 14th, 2018
2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

In the 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Nissan topped three vehicle segments and finished in the top three in two others. For the uninitiated, the JD Power IQS is the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality in the US. The Nissan brand, which generally holds itself to high standards regarding the quality study, improved by eight problems per hundred vehicles (PP100) to an overall average of 85 PP100 – the best performance of all non-luxury Japanese brands. The awards are based on feedback of verified car owners who have owned or leased their new car for 90 days. The rating itself focuses on problems experienced by the owners and has shown to be a good indicator of long-term durability. As Nissan knows, the fewer the problems, the higher the score.

Specific Nissan models did very well during the yearly review; the 2018 Nissan Frontier was the top-rated midsize pickup for the third consecutive year. The Nissan Maxima won large car honors with a score of 57 PP100, the second highest score of any vehicle in the entire study. The Nissan Altima, one of the most popular midsize vehicles, scored sixth among all vehicles, an 18-point improvement from 2017. The improvement can directly be related to Nissan’s continuous model for improvement, especially in quality.

A relatively new model, the completely electric Nissan Leaf, also improved from the 2017 survey, displaying a 17-point improvement. Mark Swanson, the companies Vice President of Total Customer Satisfaction, said regarding the awards, “Nissan’s JD Power IQS results for 2018 are encouraging because they reflect customer satisfaction directly from the people who buy and lease our vehicles.” He later mentioned Nissan’s ongoing efforts of engineering, R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams located around the world. Nissan’s dedication to quality improvement is extremely evident in all the awards and vehicles selected.

In April of 2017, Nissan announced a MOVE initiative through 2022, a six-year plan targeting thirty percent increase in revenue. The initiative seems more possible with each IQS vehicle survey, as Nissan constantly boasts vehicle improvements. The movement also vows to increase output of electric vehicles, especially since the Leaf is the best-selling electric vehicle ever.
